Our Story
Meet Haley
Hi, meet Haley! Haley was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March 2020 at 22 months old. A seemingly healthy toddler her diagnosis came as a complete shock to her family. She battled for 18 months through 3 relapses, a Bone Marrow Transplant, and over 125 days in the hospital during her treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Haley was a bright light where ever she went and her smile was like no other! She fought hard every single day, but on September 29, 2021 Haley went into the arms of God, finally healed and cancer free for eternity.
Haley spent 2 of her 3 birthdays in the hospital, so her family knows firsthand what it feels like to be in the hospital on your special day. As Haley’s family thought about how they wanted to continue on Haley’s Legacy, they kept thinking about Haley’s amazing smile. How could they make pediatric patients smile like Haley during their treatment journey? As Haley’s first heavenly birthday approached in May of 2022, her parent’s dreamed up Haley’s Happy Birthdays.
Their dream is that every pediatric patient would receive birthday decorations, balloons, and a gift on their birthday. Currently partnering with the ChildLife department at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas; our “Birthdays in a Box” are delivered to patients on the Oncology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant floors. Their hope is to expand to the entire hospital one day, but for now we are starting where Haley spent most of her treatment journey.
We would love for you to come along on this journey with us

Meet Haley’s Family
Hi, we’re the Rascos! Dustin, Heather, Dixon and Haley. We have been married for 11 years and live in the Houston area. Dixon is Haley’s 6 year old brother and best friend. Our family loves spending time together, playing in our play room and going for walks around the lake. Dustin played college baseball for Long Beach State in Long Beach, California and now works for MustangCAT. Heather is a stay-at-home mom and runs the Haley Rasco Foundation. Our hope in starting this organization is that we can bring moments of joy to patients during their treatment journey, by being the hands and feet of Jesus.
If you are a patient family, we know EXACTLY how you are feeling. We have been through every emotion possible: fear, hope, joy, disappointment, anger, loneliness, loss, you name it! Our only advice is to enjoy the little moments. No matter how small, trivial or silly those moments may be, SAVOR THEM! One of the best pieces of advice we ever got was from a nurse on the first night we were admitted to the hospital. He said “Look, you’re going to have good days and bad days. Enjoy the good days and know the bad days will pass.”
Whether it’s finally getting a warm cup of coffee, an improvement in vital signs, a morning of medicines without a fight or just a smile from your child, hold onto those. Focusing on those little moments are what get you through the hard days. We would love to share more of Our Hope with you and tell you about how we make it though every day.
